Getting those Goals: Slowly but Surely

So since spring has pretty much come and gone (or barely arrived before turning to summer, if your weather has been as bi-polar as ours has here), I wanted to show how my winter/2016 goals where coming along 🙂 Some of the goals are going well and others are still slowly getting started.
- Organizing and Tidying my apartment: That has been a successful though long process. Besides the three bags of clothes that I am still figuring out how get them to the donate places without a car, I have successfully gone through every room of my apartment and thrown or given away quite a bit of unnecessary clutter. I successfully redid the storage/pantry/closet room to make it functional and organized, which was one of the biggest parts of the project. I am working now on spring cleaning everything (things get really moldy here from all the humidity and dampness during the winter) and my future plan is to see if I can airbnb it when I am back in the States for a month this summer and then again for a few months of winter. That will help off set my costs as I am coming home to do some more fundraising to be able to stay. Figuring out the logistics of taxes and stuff is the one thing that makes me a little hesitant but I figured it’s worth a shot and hopefully will be a good way to supplement my rent.
- Loose 25-30 pounds: Well winter/semi-spring was way more stressful then I had anticipated and it made loosing weight and staying focused on my meal planning rather difficult and slow. But I have lost about 10 pounds so far and I have been swimming 3-4 times a week most weeks (as long as my schedule allows). May has been rather busy so it’s dropped to 1-2 times but with the nicer weather some days I’ve gotten in some really good days of walking.
- Find a gym class to go to regularly: I went to my first Zumba class here this week! Now that I’ve gone and seen how the classes go, it’s not as intimidating. Also, there was no instruction at all, you just had to follow along as best as you could since everyone else seemed to already know all the dances, so my worries about not understanding the Spanish were clearly not a problem. I’m hoping to be able to make it a more regular event depending on the days they are offered in the summer.
- Start a new hobby or resurrect an old one: Besides coloring to release stress this one has not really gone anywhere. I am still looking for some more things to add to my life that are just for me and not work related, that are creative and help me release stress and enjoy life. I don’t think I’m asking too much for a hobby right? 🙂
This year winter seemed to be a little unending and since there were only glimpses of spring, I’m glad that summer is now around the corner (or here as it is now officially June). I am much more productive and motivated when the sun is shining 🙂 Life just seems happier.
Good going, Gale!
