Changing With The Season

We are smack dab in the middle of Fall, the undisputed greatest season of the year, and with the changing of the leaves, weather, food and clothes, I’ve been inspired to change my approach to blogging.

I have been trying to figure out why it felt like such a chore and I only felt obligated to post when I had a newsletter coming out since my blog is linked on there for my supporters.  I realized that part of the problem was that it felt redundant because most of the photos have been posted already on facebook, instagram and usually used for my newsletters.  The info was also usually the same stuff that had already been mentioned before on various social media platforms and updates.  And since most of the people that would even read this blog already follow me or are supporters of mine, it really wasn’t serving the purpose that it was originally intended to do which was to share my life abroad with people back home and give them a glimpse of what it is like.  But that was already being done in other ways that are more suited to my personality.  And since at first I set this up because of work, I felt like I always had to mention Pilgrim House, work or answer unspoken expectations that I assumed others had.  So writing a blog post was stressful and felt like work which is why I would push it off over and over again.  I decided to rethink how I viewed it, what I used it for and what my approach to blogging would be. So I decided that I would use it to talk about things that maybe I wouldn’t talk about or post on the other platforms. Things that wouldn’t necessarily be put in my newsletters.  Pretty much, I came to the conclusion that I would post whatever I felt like even if it wasn’t work related and completely random.  I realized I wanted a place that I could write stories from my day, week, month etc or showcase some of my photography.  Maybe I’ll post about the new recipes I try or use it as accountability to stick to my weight loss plan and to celebrate when I push myself out of my comfort zone to try new things.   I want it to be a more complete picture of my life here.  Snapshots from all aspects.  So, I’m going to give it a go and we will see how it turns out.  For now I’ll leave you with a few more photos of leaves because let’s face it, Fall is beautiful.
