For Christmas I got an Iphone. When my brother, Travis and his wife, Heather, came to visit me in February they brought it with them. I wanted something that I could stay in touch with family, friends and supporters back home easily and also replace my camera that I have carried with me everyday since moving here. It’s gotten pretty beat up since becoming constant travel companion and it’s just not always a convenient way to document my daily life or capture those spontaneous events that I stumble upon here Spain. That’s when the Iphone stepped into my life. I know can take, upload, post, email, text or edit pictures from anywhere and share them instantly with people back home. And for most of you, you know that I love photography, even in its most simplest form. Instagram has become a new obsession of mine (since I no longer have access to photoshop, it gives me a tiny outlet for creativity). Since Christmas was the last time I posted in seems only fitting to use my Christmas gift to update you guys on my life. So, with no further ado, here is the last two months of this crazy Spanish adventure as told by Instagram.

The first signs of Spring!

Met Travis and Heather in Porto

We had beautiful weather, a nice break from the rainy Galician winter.

Discovered there is such a thing as wine flavored ice cream.

tried some complimentary Port wine.

Tried “torrijas”, a dessert special to Lent, that is similar to french toast dipped in honey. Delicious!

Explored Madrid and enjoyed the last few days of Trav and Heath’s visit.

Saw a beautiful sunset on the way to Madrid

Stood in the center of Spain at kilometer 0.

Always an adventure.

A new café opened!

Our new teammate, Anne, arrived which meant a trip to Ikea, where I bought, Dave the table.

5 minutes of snow flurries broke up the endless rain.

We celebrated team birthdays with Fro-yo.

More protests for Independence from Spain

Our team got a tour of the Pilgrims office

Emergency response drills happened outside the cathedral

You could take a tour of the hospital and supply tents

The rain made for a dreary welcome

More pilgrims starting arriving in March

These were my favorite pilgrims

Xavier, my tiny teammate, and I beat Jeremiah (his dad) in Carcassonne, the board game

The rain does give the old city a magical glow

Communion at the cathedral (I got to mass there occasionally)

I got to watch the many different Holy Week processionals from my window.

Palm Sunday, Anne and I took a road trip with the rest of the team to A Coruña to join our partner church

I received an Easter package from the best mom EVER!

My team and I volunteered at the Alberque run by the Pilgrims office

Some had music, other’s were silent.

I went to my first Easter vigil at the Cathedral.

Easter morning there was a huge processional followed by mass… It was packed but a really neat experience.

We also helped out at the Consigna, or baggage check

There was no end to the rain and the pilgrims arrived wet and tired.

Thanks to the Amarosa rolls my mom sent I was able to have a Philly style meal with some of my friends. YUM! A little taste of home.

We had a taco fiesta for our team Easter lunch. The Sherry tradition has now gone international.

I’ve been able to skype into House Church a few times in the last few months which has been a nice way to stay connected
